Set within five acres of peaceful woodland, the garden offers a relaxed and private space to slow down and enjoy the surroundings. A wide stretch of private riverbank curves along the edge of the grounds, setting the scene for slow morning coffees by the water and unhurried evening G&Ts as the light sets in west. There’s an outdoor seating area and a basic barbecue for easy summer suppers, while the fire pit offers an inviting spot to gather after dark. Located close to the cottage for easy access, the hot tub and sauna look out across the river, offering a wholesome way to unwind after a day exploring. The grounds are fully enclosed to give your dogs plenty of space to safely explore.
The grounds are home to a lovely mix of interesting tree species, giving the garden character and colour throughout the seasons. Wildlife is very much part of daily life here too, you might spot red squirrels in the branches, herons along the river’s edge, or even beavers and pine martens if you’re lucky, with owls often heard at dusk.
With your own private stretch of riverbank, you can wander down with a rod in hand and fish at your own pace, surrounded by nothing but trees, birdsong and the steady flow of the river. The beat offers opportunities for trout and grayling, making it a real treat for fly-fishing enthusiasts, whether you’re casting in the soft morning light or enjoying a peaceful few hours at dusk. As part of the wider River Tay system, one of Scotland’s most celebrated salmon rivers, there is also the possibility of salmon fishing, with the appropriate permit. For those who love to fish, it’s a rare chance to stay somewhere that places the river quite literally on your doorstep.
The trout season is between 15th March – 6th October and you can fish for grayling and coarse over the winter.
